C.E.I. Lab

CEI ( Creative Education Institute)

CEI rapidly develops reading skills and helps build a strong foundation. With CEI, the educator directly addresses the sensory causes of learning failure. Proper use of CEI materials strengthens weak sensory processing; therefore, the remediation provided goes well beyond the scope of reading. Through CEI, the student develops the ability to recall information on command and improves expression of knowledge - a tremendous breakthrough for students with learning problems.

The goal of CEI is to improve comprehension learning skills. The first step of the remediation process addresses the most basic element of learning to read. Basic phonemes must be implanted in memory so they can be retrieved and combined with other phonemic elements to produce words. CEI addresses the "A to Z" of reading, from the basic "A" of word encoding and decoding to the "Z" of improved learning skills.

The CEI program is currently in its fifth year at J.P. Cowen and is directed by Janice Vinson and Cresta Mitchell. CEI works with children from kindergarten to the third grade.
