Jostens Computer Lab

Jostens Learning's Elementary Reading Curriculum is an individualized , self-paced program designed to guide students from the surface level of reading to the deeper levels of critical understanding. To accomplish this, Jostens Learning has adopted an interrelated approach to reading instruction. The Curriculum provides a balance of strategy lessons and application lessons, enabling students to develop proficiency in word analysis, vocabulary, comprehension, and study skills.

The Jostens Learing Writing Curriculum encourages students to use language in meaningful contexts. Reading and writing are presented as complementary, integrated literacy skills. Lesson content is drawn form the sciences, from the humanities, and from life skills, and each lesson involkes higher-order thinking. Throughout the curriculum, the computer is used as a tool to facilitate the development of literacy.

In addition to reading and writing Jostens offers a comprehensive math curriculum. The math curriculum offers predeveloped learning paths that can help the student become familiar with the scope of the curriculum.

The Josten's lab has been in place at J.P. Cowen since 1993.It is directed by Betty Cullison.
